Sally Lunn’s in Bath, Somerset was the home of legendary Huguenot baker Sally Lunn, who created the first Bath bun. An authentic regional speciality now known over the world, the bun is large, very light and like a brioche in texture and served
with both delightfully sweet
and savoury toppings.

The actual recipe is a closely guarded secret, known only by the baker in the house and passed from generation to generation. The area the café occupies dates back to Roman times and there is evidence of food being made here at that time.

When Sally Lunn (real name Solange Luyon, which was difficult for the English to pronounce) arrived in 1680, after escaping persecution in France, there was still a café on the site.

Today you can visit the Sally Lunn House, enjoy the rambling staircases (mind your head) and cosy rooms spread over three floors, eat this truly delightful bun and visit the museum on the lower ground floor.
