Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council officially joins Visit Somerset

John Turner Visit Somerset CEO said, “We are delighted with this news, all coming at a really timely point as work begins on our Coastal Strategy and when plans are being made for a large marketing presence in London on the 11th May 2020. Visit Somerset and many of its coastal members will meet with high profile influencers in the media and the visitor economy to market our glorious coastline. With over 60 miles of some of the most diverse coastline in the UK we are thrilled that Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council has joined us. Burnham-on-Sea has been an incredibly important part of our visitor mix for decades and having Burnham-on-Sea as part of wider coastal strategy now will really help in marketing the whole of our coastline far more effectively.”
Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council said, "The Town Council is excited to be working alongside Visit Somerset and its local partners to promote the tremendous assets our coastal towns have to offer. Burnham-on-Sea is a popular seaside destination on the South West Coastal Path that has something for everyone; from miles of family friendly beaches, an abundance of independent shops and cafes in its popular high street and a busy events calendar throughout the year. The Council is looking forward to helping develop the Coastal Strategy that will enable all of our coastal communities to thrive.”
John added, “With so much coverage recently reported on social economic isolation within coastal resorts, it is more vital than ever before that our communities come together as a united front, supporting new ways of working and seeing how we can extend the tourism season through different initiatives whilst working with our councils to help incentivise and breathe new life into our coastal towns with big business opportunities. Visit Somerset is helping to take that lead and this recent action is another step in the right direction for our coastline.”
