My Fair Lady at The Bristol Hippodrome

My Fair Lady tells the story of an Edwardian cockney flower girl Eliza Dolittle's transformation into the pride of London society. Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor makes a bet with a friend that within 6 months he can transform the cockney flower seller into a Lady. He wins the bet, but neither Eliza or Henry bargain for the profound effect they have on each others lives.

The BLOC Production of My Fair Lady transported the audience on a journey with songs such as 'Street where she lived', 'I could have danced all night', 'Wouldn't it be loverly' and 'Get me to the Church on Time'. The sets and costumes were incredible from the flower markets of London to the races of Ascot.

The performance was elegant and romantic and very very funny! Peter Cottell's performance as Professor Higgins was hilarious with lots of laugh out loud moments. Simon Vardakis also really stood out with his portrayal of Alfred Doolitte. His songs such as 'get me to the church on time' and 'with a little bit of luck' had the audience roaring with laughter. Charlotte Hunter as Eliza was exceptional, her voice was incredible and her cockney accent was so good!

A fantastic performance by all and the standing ovation at the end was well deserved.
