Christmas Markets to visit in Somerset

With Christmas fast approaching, fantastic festive markets are popping up all over Somerset. Why not take the whole family for a trip and visit the Santa's Grottos and market stalls while enjoying plenty of mulled wine and mince pies? Here are some of the best Christmas markets for present shopping, tasty food and lots of festive fun!

Bath Christmas Market

For a truly impressive festive outing, plan a visit to the award winning Bath Christmas Market. Bath is transformed over the Christmas period with more than 170 chalets packed full of great gifts. Wander through the streets of the Roman city surrounded by the warming aromas of mulled wine and fresh mince pies. New stalls are added every year so don’t miss out!

Taunton Christmas Market

In the five weeks leading up to Christmas, Taunton’s town centre will be host to 50 stalls and traditional wooden chalets packed full of Christmas goodies. Local food and produce will be available to buy as well as art, jewellery and more. Keep the children entertained whilst your shopping with the variety of rides on offer.

Frome Christmas Extravaganza

This year Frome will be hosting a Snow Ball themed Christmas Extravaganza with late night shopping, family activities, music, choirs, dancing, food and drink from 5pm on November 27th. The evening will feature a giant gingerbread house installation by projection artist Anthony Head and a masquerade ball in the Market Place for everyone to join in, with live music from Frome Symphony. The ball follows the Christmas light switch on at 7.30pm.

 Montacute House Levels’ Best Craft & Farmers Markets

For those who love your food, why not try Montacute House Craft & Farmers Markets where you can find all your local food and crafts at one quality market? Held in the old stables, this ever popular and award winning ‘best in Somerset’ market is a must for those who like top quality local produce and crafts.

 Tyntesfield  Festive Food and Craft Market

Discover the tinsel at Tyntesfield as it hosts a festive food and craft market. Come and stroll around Home Farm, enjoy the atmosphere and pick up some festive treats. From freshly baked seasonal goodies to handmade jewellery and ceramics, you’re sure to find something to tempt you. There’ll be Christmassy entertainment on hand too!

Dunster Castle by Candlelight

Visit Dunster Castle for an exciting evening where you can explore the impressive castle by candlelight. See the National Trust castle spectacularly floodlit, with each of the rooms decorated to create a festive feel. Listen to Christmas music whilst you browse the festive market.

 Glastonbury Frost Fayre

An extravaganza of seasonal magnificence is being held this year in Glastonbury. With a Santa’s Grotto and children's entertainment as well this fayre is a great day out for all the family. You can also enjoy free entry to Glastonbury Abbey after taking in all that the fayre has to offer.

 Haynes Festive Food and Gift Fayre

Looking for Christmas presents with a difference? Find unique handmade gifts for your friends and family at Haynes Festive Food and Gift Fayre in the south of Somerset. There are 30 plus stalls which will provide festive inspiration and gift ideas galore. Browse the stalls whilst picking up all the delicious food you need for Christmas. This is a great opportunity for you to buy all of your fresh, local produce for the festive season - and car parking is free!

 Willows and Wetlands Visitors Centre Christmas Craft and Food Fayre

The Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre in Stoke St Gregory are holding its Christmas Craft and Food Fayre again this year with plenty of stalls as well as a music and lantern parade. There will be festive food and drink to tempt you.
