Have you heard of Andrew Crosse, known as the wizard of Broomfield, and a resident at Fyne Court?
Fyne Court is a National Trust property in Broomfield, near Taunton, and whether Andrew Crosse inspired Mary Shelley to write the novel Frankenstein, is just one part of the history explored on a guided tour of the estate.
The free tour takes place every Thursday in July and August at 12pm and 2pm from the newly re-opened cafe.
Tamsin Mosse, visitor services manager, said: " Fyne Court is a beautiful place to explore but it’s not always obvious what you’re looking at! There are some real hidden gems in the grounds such as the boathouse and some fantastic stories including the dramatic fire in 1894. A tour is a fantastic way to bring this magical place to life and even if you have visited before, you may not have spotted the serpentine lake or know about the current conservation work going on."
