Hello from Tyntesfield

Another year another spring and lots more outdoor activities to do at Tyntesfield whatever the weather.

We’ll keep you posted throughout the year as usual with all our exciting things to see and do.

This year is shaping up to be an even bigger year than 2013 as we are welcoming some very special guests for the very first time!

Description:

The upper and lower courtyards at Home Farm turn into a hive of activity and colour as local food and craft producers set up their stalls and showcase their wares.

Blow the cobwebs away with a morning run round the Tyntesfield estate, enjoying spectacular scenery along the way. Open to all abilities – no one will be left behind. Led by members of the Nailsea Running Club. Price includes a cup of tea or filter coffee afterwards.

Description:

Explore the wider Tyntesfield estate by following the parameter wall around the 540 acre estate. 

Discover rarely told tales and tread un-trodden paths across fields and up through wooded glens. The walk will take in glorious vistas, a beautiful country pub and sheds light on some forgotten gems of the Tyntesfield story. £15 per person (includes a hot snack and drink in the Battleaxes Inn)

Please meet in the upper courtyard of our Home Farm visitor centre for 9.45am.

Allan McCarthy from the Bristol Astronomical Society will guide you through the night sky in an interactive talk. Perfect for anyone who has ever admired the night sky and wanted to know more.

Intro to green woodworking with the Bodgers

Description:

Learn the basics of green woodworking under the expert guidance of the North Somerset Bodgers. You’ll cleave and turn some items to take home with you using timber from the Tyntesfield estate.

Using traditional woodworking tool including a draw knife, shave horse and hand chisels to shape items on a pole lathe, you’ll learn all the basic skills you’ll need to progress on to a bigger project.

Dawn chorus bird walk with Ed Drewitt

Description:

Ed Drewitt, bird specialist and wildlife detective, will guide you around Tyntesfield at dawn and tune your ears to all the different bird songs around the Tyntesfield estate. Finish the morning with a hot drink and a delicious bacon or mushroom buttie.

We will be listening for many birds including song Thrushes, Blackbirds, Robins and Goldcrests as they sing first thing to attract a mate and protect their territory.

Treat mum to a day out a Tyntesfield this Mother’s Day.

Come on over to see the spring blooms in the formal gardens, sway to some soothing musical entertainment, sample the Cow Barn restaurant’s seasonal specials and win the chance to see your delicious Mother’s Day cake appear on Cow Barn menu.

To enter, please drop off your scrumptious creations in the Cow Barn restaurant between 11am and 1pm. Winners of the two categories of cake baker, Junior (14yrs and under) and Adult, will be announced at 2pm.
