- Enhance roof insulation. Aim for 12 inches across total roof space. Remember to also insulate loft hatch.
- Promote local produce in the area. Identify farm shops and similar that guests are likely to pass on their way into the site or deliver. Promote on website & confirmation letter
- Switch to metered water billing and implement water saving actions to reduce water bill and environmental impact
- Draught proof external doors and kitchen/conservatory doors
- Place foil backing behind all radiators to reduce heat loss through walls
- Lag hot water pipes onsite, starting with boiler and hot water tanks
- Purchase 'One-click Intellipanel' to automatically switch appliances off standby. see www.ecofreak.co.uk
- Install water butts onsite for boot/cycle/car washing. Promote by placing a sign on water butts an in visitor folder
- Loan kinetic torches onsite - could be used by guests for safer walking around onsite, reduce battery waste and add educational angle
- Introduce 'visitor payback' whereby a donation for extra services such as loan of an OS map, wellies, umbrellas etc goes to a relevant charity eg. Wildlife Trust, local conservation group.
