Crewkerne & District Museum & Heritage Centre
Key 'green' issues facing the business
- The centre is a small site with no grounds and limited funds, so any changes must be extremely cost effective.
What has the business done so far?
- Passive Infra Red (PIR) sensor in disabled toilet eliminates risk of light left switched on
- Local art is sold in shop
- Engagement of local community groups and schools contribute to inclusiveness and longevity of the attraction
Future 'green' developments
- There are many energy saving opportunities that exist for the centre, most at little cost
- An aerating head for the function room and weighted drinks bottle in toilet cisterns will reduce water waste
- The Centre can act as an influencing force to encourage visitors to say in Crewkerne longer and spend money locally by developing information provision. Displaying a wall map of the town in the reception area highlighting local points of interest and walking routes can help achieve this.
Top 'green' tip
- Staff are involved through a notice board in the staff room that can be updated by any staff member with new ideas to take to the board
