Exmoor Pony Centre

The Exmoor Pony is the oldest native pony breed in Britain and yet is currently listed as an endangered rare breed. Around 3,500 of these ponies survive worldwide, of which about 350 still live free on Exmoor. These beautiful, hardy ponies are supported by The Moorland Mousie Trust, which works to promote and conserve the breed.

The Exmoor Pony Centre is the home of the Trust, and is a purpose built centre situated in the heart of Exmoor where visitors can come to meet and ride these very special ponies.

The Centre is open to visitors daily from 10am to 5pm between the Easter holidays and October half term, with variable opening times during the rest of the year. Please call for details of opening times during the winter months. Entrance to the Exmoor Pony Centre is free of charge.

If you wish to ride an Exmoor pony the Centre offers two options; treks on Exmoor for competent riders and Taster sessions for those with less experience.

The Exmoor Pony Centre can also cater for group visits and birthday parties (generally out of high season) so please contact us for further information.

PRICES AND CONDITIONS:

The 3-hour Exmoor Experience:
- Costs - £40 per person
- Riders must be 10 years or over
- Riders must be competent to canter in open spaces.

The one hour Taster Sessions:
- Available for riders/non-riders of all abilities of 4 years old and over
- Sessions are tailored to the individuals taking part, and include an introduction to Exmoor ponies, grooming and tacking up and some riding within our indoor arena.
- Cost £27.50 for one or two participants with one pony
- An additional person can join for a further £10 charge
- If there are four participants, the session would involve two ponies at a cost of £55
