You’ll be mesmerised from the moment you step across the moat, under the portcullis and glimpse the stunning 13th century palace building across the croquet lawn.
There’s 14 acres of beautiful gardens to explore as well, including the well pools from which the city takes its name; a ruined Great Hall to admire; an arboretum to picnic in; exciting events throughout the year; guided walks; a peaceful chapel to rest in; bespoke souvenirs to take home and a café that serves mouth-watering lunch, light bites and great coffee.
There are also two new viewing and feeding platforms on Palace Green so you can get a better view of the world famous resident swans ringing a bell alongside the gatehouse when they want food.
Visitors can enjoy free access to the café, shop, toilets and stable yard area. Paid admission applies to the Palace building, gardens, chapel and events. Children under five years old are free.
