Fyne Court, National Trust

Fyne Court is a hidden gem in the heart of the Quantock Hills. Explore a wild garden, reclaimed by nature after once being part of a family estate.

The estate was the home of the Crosse family who lived here until the house was destroyed by fire in 1894. Scientist and poet Andrew Crosse, the ‘Thunder and Lightning Man’ and Fyne Court’s most famous resident, became a recluse after his controversial experiments were made public. Step into the Snug to find out more about Fyne Court’s history.

There’s plenty for families to enjoy including den building, climbing on fallen trees, splashing in streams and picnicking on the Courtyard lawn. In summer, see a haze of wildflowers and hear the buzz of bees in the walled garden.

The Courtyard Café is open seven days a week all year round and serves hot & cold drinks, light lunches and homemade cakes.

Fyne Court is open daily from dawn until dusk (opening times may vary due to weather conditions). There is no charge for entry and parking is free for National Trust members or £5 for non-members.

Tramper mobility scooter available – call or email in advance to book.
Level access to Courtyard and Café. Accessible route around the garden.

Natural play areas for children.
