Outdoor Activities

There is nothing like a jolt of adrenaline to make you feel alive and there are plenty of places in Somerset guaranteed to get the heart pounding and the pulse racing. We have caves to crawl through, cliffs to clamber up and coastal waters to canoe in. You can let the children try fishing, riding, camp fire building, wind surfing, rafting, biking and even axe throwing.

There are underground wonders like the caves at Cheddar (pictured) and Wookey Hole; forest adventures and hilltop scrambles; water sports behind speed boats or under sail and plenty of opportunities to see rare and wonderful wildlife.

Some of the activities on offer take you far away from it all to the heart of the countryside or into a farmyard to feed animals and collect eggs. Other equally exciting experiences can be had by the sea-side on roller coasts, train rides and theme parks.

We have lakes, locks and little coves; moors, mountain bike trails and wildflower meadows; woodlands, wildernesses and wildfowl reserves. All these and more are waiting for the young at heart to embrace the potential they offer for living life to the full.
