UK INBOUND CONFERENCE NEWS
6th February 2012
John Turner - the Vice Chairman of the 'Somerset Tourism Association' - was present at the ‘UK Inbound’ conference last week, which was held at the 'Europa hotel' in Belfast. This is the same hotel where the ‘Good Friday agreement’ was created and where President Bill Clinton once stayed during his Presidency to bring lasting peace to the Northern Ireland region. Below is John’s personal account of the trip.
"The conference went very well, I was there on behalf of 'Clarks Village' and Visit Somerset to sell in the Somerset Explorer package into 15 different tour operators. All of which had taken a great interest in the county and the up and coming familiarisation trip in September of this year.
I also met with John Penrose (MP and Minister for Tourism) who continues to be impressed with our developments. John Penrose highlighted the fact that we were present at the conference this year, and he celebrated this in his speech to the delegation.
This is against a back drop of other counties that were not represented at the conference. We are now in negotiations with 'UK Inbound' for 'Visit Somerset' to become members, and 'UK Inbound' has also agreed to support the International conference on the 13th April.
The attached itinerary was sold into the tour operators at the conference.
