Snowdrop Valley

Snowdrop valley explodes with snowdrops and mystical feeling each spring. You can either use the Snowdrop valley park and ride scheme from the village of Wheddon Cross, or walk down.

Wheddon Cross is a lovely little village, and as the name would suggest has been formed on a crossroads. Minehead to the south, Dulverton to the south, Taunton to the east and North Devon to the west. It is actually the highest village on Exmoor and an ideal centre for exploring hills and valleys

Cutcombe Parish Council with support from Exmoor National Park Authority, Badgworthy Land Company and Exmoor Farmers Livestock Auctions run a very successful Park and Ride scheme from Wheddon Cross to Snowdrop Valley enabling visitors to reach the valley without having to take their cars down the narrow country lanes that lead to it.

Buses will run from the Rest and Be Thankful car park every half an hour from 10:30am to 4pm with the last bus back from the valley at 4:50pm. Guide dogs and hearing dogs are of course welcome on all buses, as are other dogs. However, in order to ensure comfort for passengers, other dogs will be admitted at the driver's discretion.

The walking route into the valley will be waymarked with snowdrop symbols and visitors should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for winter walking. If you opt to walk we suggest that you take a short diversion to visit the pretty St Johns Church in the quiet little village of Cutcombe.

Disabled drivers (blue badge holders) and minibus drivers with passengers unable to use the bus service should drive to Wheddon Cross where they will be given a special pass, verbal directions and instructions for parking. A donation towards the running of the scheme would be appreciated.

Refreshments are available at the Moorland Hall. Also the Rest and be Thankful where a full lunch time menu is available as well as morning coffee and afternoon teas.
