St John's is a beautiful and historical building. There has been a church on this site for over a thousand years. Legen has it that Joseph of Arimathea, who gave his tomb for Christ's burial, came to Glastonbury. He planted his staff and it took root. A specimen of this Holy Thorn is in the churchyard. It flowers at Christmas
