Angling Associations hold the rights to many fishing waters in Somerset including rivers, drains and lakes. Various day tickets, season tickets and permits can be purchased to let you enjoy a change of scenery. If you wish to visit a fishing water that is controlled by an Angling Association, we recommend that you contact the relevant Association beforehand. Contact details are listed below.

Before fishing for Salmon, Trout, coarse fish or eels you will need a current National Rod Licence. This is available from every Post Office in England and Wales, by calling
0870 166 2662 or via the website, www.environment-agency.gov.uk.
Licences run for 12 months from 1 April to 31 March.
All waters require the relevant permissions and permits. Please contact the Individual fishing waters listed in this guide for more details.

Please note that the following close seasons apply on rivers, streams and drains in Somerset:
Coarse fish and Eels from 15 March to 15 June (dates inclusive)
Brown Trout from 16 October to 31 March (dates inclusive)
Rainbow Trout from 16 October to 31 March (dates inclusive)
Migratory Trout from 1 November to 14 April (dates inclusive)
Salmon from 1 September to 31 January (dates inclusive)
