These 2 converted barns are both very special Grade II listed buildings – they have many original features such as old beams and flagstone floors combined with every modern comfort – full central heating, dishwashers, washer-dryers and so on making them warm and comfortable all year round.

The Ancient Barn is around 600 years old and has a lofty cruck-beamed living area with views west across fields providing dramatic sunsets (weather permitting!). It has 2 bedrooms – 1 featuring a splendid Victorian brass bedstead. Outside there is a small south facing patio. The Old Stables dates from the 17thC and has heavily beamed ceilings, 3 bedrooms (1 with a magnificent four-poster bed), 2 bathrooms and a garden. Additionally there is a medieval Bee House (providing an extra double bedroom with en suite WC/shower) that can be rented in conjunction with either Barn or Stables.

The buildings are next to a small working farm, yet guests often comment on how peaceful this rural location is. Close by are 2 famous walks – the Leland Trail and the Macmillan way, and numerous public footpaths lead into the countryside where you may see badgers, deer, foxes, dormice, rabbits, glow-worms, kingfishers and much, much more.

Less than 2 miles away is Castle Cary – a small historic market town full of interesting shops and pubs. It is surrounded by pretty countryside and there are numerous places of interest to visit in the area. The cities of Bath, Wells and Salisbury are all less than an hour away. Glastonbury (Abbey and Tor), Stonehenge, Longleat House, Montacute House, Stourhead Gardens, Wookey Hole (caves), Cheddar Gorge, Clarkes Shopping Village, Alfred’s Tower and Burrow Mump are just a few of the fascinating things to see in the area. And for those wishing to visit the seaside there is a small, pretty 1-hour train journey from Castle Cary to Weymouth.
