Nestling down a quiet country lane, beside the River Exe, in the heart of Exmoor National Park, Riscombe offers four charming cottages converted from stone barns around an attractive courtyard. All are completely self-contained, very comfortable and well equipped, with exposed beams, TV, DVD, etc, and with log fires in the three larger cottages. Our cottages sleep 2-6 people each. Pets are welcome and if you want to bring your own horse, then we have plenty of stabling and turnout available. Whilst no longer a working farm, our small holding has a variety of friendly animals, and please mind the free range hens and ducks as you drive in! Riscombe is surrounded by all the variety that Exmoor has to offer: the spectacular coast, the wild heather moors, home to the largest herd of red deer in England and of course the unique Exmoor ponies. Over 600 miles of footpaths will take you through ancient oak woods, over crystal-clear streams, winding through steep, hidden valley’s and up the slopes of Dunkery Beacon to enjoy spectacular views across the South West. You can share the history, from pre-historic standing stones, a castle and abbey’s. Rest in on of the many beautiful, unspoilt villages, offering food, arts and crafts and be entertained at country shows and fetes. Road Directions
We are about 45 minutes drive from the M5 junction 25 at Taunton. Follow the A358 (signs to Minehead) and approx. 5 miles from Taunton turn left under a railway bridge onto the B3224. After approximately 9 miles, 0.5 mile after Raleghs Cross Inn, fork right at a church (sign to Wheddon Cross, B3224). Continue to Exford. Leave Exford on the B3224 towards Simonsbath, but turn right at crossroads after 1 mile. Proceed down lane and Riscombe Farm is at the bottom of the hill on a sharp left bend.
Public Transport Directions
From Taunton - 26 miles - Regular bus service to Minehead. Visitors can be collected from Minehead or get a bus or taxi.
