Type: Self-Catering

Higher House is an excellent touring base with an easy access to the West country’s north and south coasts. There are wonderful landscaped gardens giving onto open countryside. It is an ideal location for walking and cycling, riding, golf, water sports and fishing.

This spacious airy apartment, situated on the second floor of a converted barn has been equipped to provide a comfortable and convenient holiday base. The property stands in 5 acres featuring a lake with wild flower meadow, formal flower garden and lawns, as well as fields and woodland areas, which we hope our visitors will enjoy. Our intention is to provide a calm welcoming atmosphere, however long you stay.

Within easy reach of the West Somerset Steam Railway and Dunster Castle and Mill on the north coast, the Quantock and Blackdown hills are only minutes away with Exmoor National Park an easy drive. Somerset enjoys an extensive network of footpaths to provide country walks to suit all tastes. Enjoy cricket in Taunton, golf at nearby Oake Manor and water sports at Wimbeball and Clatworthy. Cycle hire is available in Taunton.

Garden enthusiasts will greatly enjoy Hestercombe just north of Taunton as well as National Trust properties with gardens of interest at Knightshayes Court, Killerton and Barrington Court. Hillcommon has a pub, which serves good food: nearby Oake has a post office and general shop.

The apartment sleeps up to 5 people and consists of a large lounge/kitchen/diner, bathroom with shower over the bath, toilet and basin, and a king size double bedroom. There are 3 full size single beds in the lounge.
