Type: Guest House

The Gables c1670, began life as a bakery with adjoining cottage. The cottage became general stores and post office around 1840. In 1930 the property became a guest house. The bakery, while retaining many original features, was reconstructed to serve as the tea rooms of today.

This fascinating period house is owned and managed by Tony and Sandy Whitehead who recommend their breakfast as a wonderful start to any day - freshly cooked to order with several choices. You are also invited to partake of one of the excellent cream teas that Sandy produces, whether it is scones, meringues fruit or apple cake, all homemade with no shortage of cream and strawberry jam.

This friendly house is open all year round and equally pleasant to stay in during winter months when it is a joy to sit close to a roaring log fire. The Gables is ideal for business people visiting Yeovil or Crewkerne who prefer the tranquility of the countryside to the noise of the town.

The historic hamlet of East Chinnock nestles in the lush Somerset hills alongside the A30 between Yeovil and Crewkerne. Its position is ideally suited to Ramblers or those with interest in Wells Cathedral, the history of Glastonbury or exploring the picturesque Dorset coast, just 15 miles away, as well as the attractions of nearby Yeovil, Montacute House, Ham Hill stone age fortress remains, or the Fleet Air Museum which houses Concorde 002.

The Gables and East Chinnock are ideally situated for the tourist and business traveller alike.
