Fitzhead Court lies between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor, 11 miles northwest of Taunton, Somerset’s County Town
It is an historic building set in rural Somerset. Built and altered over many centuries, for a considerable number of years belonging to the church, and used by the Bishops of Bath and Wells in their progressions around the diocese, dispensing justice and collecting tithes and fines. Later it became the country seat of various families of landed gentry and aristocracy, principally the Canons and Southeys (of poet fame) and also of Lord Ashburton, an important agricultural innovator and politician of the late 18th early 19th century.
Now it is an individual and fascinating private home, available for Bed and Breakfast, offering comfortable and spacious accommodation tucked away in the sandstone walls of the hamlet of Fitzhead, You will have a memorable experience, in the care and capable hands of the owner, a professional chef, who is also able to offer dinner in addition to full English breakfast, using local produce. The friendly and hospitable atmosphere will delight and the calm and peace of the setting, close to the Quantock Hills and Exmoor will offer you rest and undisturbed sleep.
There is a pub close by Fitzhead Court and where a pint of the local Cotleigh beer can be consumed, or a glass of wine or a meal can be enjoyed .
