Type: Guest House
Exmoor House is a small and thoroughly relaxing hotel in Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor. Originally built by a local squire as an unlikely combination of tailor's shop and village reading room, this spacious property now offers restful en suite rooms and imaginative, unfussy cooking using quality ingredients.
Lying close to Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor's highest point at 1,705 feet, Exmoor House makes a great walking base. If you've had enough of driving, you can leave your car here and enjoy lots of really rewarding walks from our door - head west and you are soon onto high moorland, head east and you enter the gentle folds of the unspoilt Brendon Hills.
After a day exploring the National Park, relax with an aperitif in our TV-free guests' sitting room before, perhaps, enjoying a candlelit three-course dinner overlooking dramatic Dunkery Beacon.
You might even squeeze in a game of Scrabble before bedtime.
