Set in a stunning unspoiled location, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, Duddings offers all the ingredients for a memorable holiday in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. 3 miles from the coast, Duddings is an ideal base from which to explore the 600 miles of local public footpaths and bridleways. Many picturesque villages and harbours lie within easy reach, and the famous ponies and red deer can be found on the moor. The medieval village of Dunster is only 2 miles away, and is well worth exploring for its castle, priory, church, tithe barn, dovecote, water mill, and the famous Yarn Market.

Our Facilities

Facilities at Duddings include a hard tennis court, warm indoor heated pool, putting green, pool table, table tennis table, trampoline, football net & Gate Lodge Play Centre (2-story playhouse with swings, slide, fireman’s pole & assault course). Adjacent to the pool, we have a telephone room with a payphone & a brochure room. There are eight acres of land to explore, with picnic areas, and a safe river where you may spot a brown trout! This is a marvellous spot for a family holiday in an area which has so much to offer.

The West Wing (Sleeps 12 – 6 bedrooms)
The West Wing forms the greater part of a traditionally built thatched Devon longhouse. Dating back to the 16th century and Grade II listed, the interior has been tastefully restored and offers a wealth of period features, including exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces. Approached through a private, walled patio garden, the entrance porch leads to the main hallway with payphone. The ground floor has a well fitted kitchen with double oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer + a second fridge, dishwasher etc. The oak-floored lounge has a massive inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove, TV, video, dvd player and comfortable seating for 12. The dining room has an inglenook and polished hardwood floor, offering a perfect setting for that special celebration meal (seats up to 16). Leading off the hallway is a second sitting room or ‘snug’ & a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink & oil-fired combi-boiler plus a 4th loo. A twin bedded room is located on the ground floor with an en-suite shower room. On the first floor there are five bedrooms; a double and four twins, together with a bathroom (with bath & shower), and a further shower room.

The 12 Cottages (Sleep 2-8)

The cottages are mostly grouped around a courtyard in a lovely setting with views of the wooded hills and scattered fields. They have been beautifully converted from old stone barns and stables. The ancient beams and stone walls have been retained and enhanced by the provision of comfortable and stylish furniture, and excellent decorations.

All the cottages are equipped to the highest standards, with colour TVs, videos, DVD’s, microwaves, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards. Individually controlled central heating by oil throughout.

Horner + Cleeve (Sleep 2 each)

Cosy one-bedroomed apartments with kitchen/dining/living room and shower room. Cleeve (ground floor) has a twin bedroom, whilst Horner (first floor) has a double bedroom and is reached by an outside staircase. Lovely views. Equipped with own washer/dryers.

Bilbrook (sleep 3)

Lovely two-bedroomed apartment with kitchen/dining/living room, double & single bedrooms and shower room reached via an outside staircase. Good views. Equipped with Washer/dryer & dishwasher.

Selworthy + Bossington (Sleep 4 each)

Each sleeps four in two bedrooms. Kitchen/dining/living room downstairs, and double and twin bedrooms, and shower room upstairs. Equipped with own washer/dryers.

The Annexe (Sleeps 4)

Sleeps four in two bedrooms. Kitchen area with dishwasher and washer/dryer, and dining/living room with woodburner and French windows downstairs. Double and twin bedrooms, and bathroom with shower over bath upstairs. Set slightly apart from the other cottages, the Annexe has uninterrupted views across the valley.

Winsford (Sleeps 4)

Upside down cottage sleeping four in two bedrooms. Double and twin bedrooms, bathroom with shower over bath, and extra loo downstairs. Kitchen/dining/ living room upstairs. Equipped with washer/dryer and dishwasher.

Luccombe (Sleeps 5)

Upside down cottage sleeping five in two bedrooms. Double and triple bedrooms, and bathroom with shower over bath downstairs. Kitchen/dining/living room upstairs. Equipped with washer/dryer and dishwasher.

Allerford (Sleeps 5)

Sleeps five in three bedrooms. Double bedroom, bathroom with shower over bath, and kitchen/ dining/living room with washer/dryer and dishwasher downstairs. Twin and single bedrooms upstairs.

Withycombe (Sleeps 6)

Upside down cottage sleeping six in three bedrooms. Double and two twin bedrooms, bathroom with shower over bath, and shower room downstairs. Kitchen/dining/living room upstairs. Equipped with washer/dryer and dishwasher.

Tivington + Exford (Sleep 8 each or 16 combined)

These cottages have four bedrooms. A double and a twin on the ground floor, together with a bathroom/shower room + a 3rd loo, fully-equipped kitchen, dining room (seats up to 16) and sitting room. Upstairs is another double & twin bedroom + a shower room. Both cottages have patio doors giving glorious views across the Avill Valley.
