Arts and Culture

Local Craft Galleries and Workshops
Somerset has many galleries such as the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen gallery at Somerton or the One Craft gallery at Shepton Mallet to showcase the work of craftsmen who have turned traditional trades (Ironmongery, carving, thatching and weaving) into profitable highly-specialised crafts.

Silver and gold jewellery, decorative leatherwork, paintings, and much more can be found at Clevedon Craft Centre.

Potters such as John Leach at Muchelney and Nick Goldsmith from the Quantock Pottery work in their Somerset potteries. Come and visit them and take away a unique gift from Somerset.

Somerset Arts Week
For an opportunity to visit hundreds of local artists and craftspeople in their own studios plus a whole host of exhibitions and events throughout the county come to Somerset during the Somerset Art Weeks which is held every other year and due to take place again in September 2008. North Somerset Art Weeks was held this year in May.
