In the beginning…

First spotted in Somerset, Orchard Pig’s charm is now legendary!  What started as a hobby has now exploded into a well known brand.
It all began in the noughties, just outside Glastonbury… when Andrew and Neil were devouring their home-made cider and a hog roast with friends, they discovered that apples from West Bradley Orchards make the best tasting cider.
Following this happy discovery Orchard Pig was born out of a shared thirst for great cider, great food and Gloucester Old Spots, the original Orchard Pigs…
Old Spots are traditionally called orchard pigs because they roam around orchards greedily munching on windfall apples, and legend has it that their spots are actually bruises caused by falling apples.

Hog history…

Orchard Pig’s home in West Bradley Orchards is well and truly rooted in Somerset’s cider-making history, dating back to the 1850s and W.T. Allen’s award winning Somerset cider.

At that time, barrels of Allen’s Somerset Cider were transported on flat-bed wagons on a daily basis from a road running directly through the orchard to West Pennard railway station.

His most well-known customer was Sir Anthony Eden, Prime Minister between 1955 and 1957 during the Suez Crisis, who enjoyed repeat orders of W. T. Allen’s infamous 4.5 gallon barrels of Somerset cider!

The building in which Orchard Pig has its offices today dates back to 1900, when it was the hub of cider making at West Bradley Orchards, and the central apple store, pressing room and barrel cellar. Opposite, the original weighbridge remains, where the horses, carts and their loads were weighed in and out.

Our cider…

Orchard Pig may have their roots firmed fixed in Somerset but their horizons stretch well beyond the county border. Keen to disrupt the traditional cider market ,and stamp their own unique take on it, they’re bold, tinged with a spot of mischief and all about the cider…

Orchard Pig cider is bursting with West Country bittersweet cider apples expertly crafted to a special blend and slowly matured for a great taste with real character… and a ‘More apples, less bubbles’ approach sets orchard Pig aside from large brand competitors.

Reveller is their most in-demand cider and it’s recently been introduced in cans. To celebrate Orchard Pig launched the new cans into London, with the help of a giant catapult and a #CatapultMyCan request, into the waiting hands of a thirsty crowd.

The Orchard Pig range varies from exotic blends such as Ginger and Chilli to the almighty Hogfather, which at 7.4% is not one for the faint hearted!

Our juicy Orchard drinks…

Orchard pig’s juicy Orchard drinks are also making a splash. The invigorating blends are enjoyed as is… or mixed and shaken to make to make a cheeky cocktail!

As Orchard Pig builds upon their notoriety the ciders and orchard drinks continue to fly out the barn door!
