Climbing

The limestone cliffs, crags and quarries of Somerset make for excellent climbing if you are a beginner or if you have many years of experience under your belt. The Mendip Hills have some of the best limestone climbing sites anywhere in the country. They are the base for the largest outdoor activity provider in the South West which makes full use of the fantastic natural resources to offer climbing, caving and abseiling.

Climbing is allowed all year round at Cheddar, Britain’s biggest gorge, where the views are simply breathtaking. Instruction is available on routes that range from the simple to the quite difficult.

If it is sea views you are after, then Brean Down has a charm of its own and a number of sport climbs. For experienced climbers, there are a number of routes along the coastal cliffs of Exmoor.
