Major Glastonbury Movie news as Motion Picture Capital to package ‘Glastonbury ’

24th January 2013

LOS ANGELES/LONDON - Galatia Films, LLC and Motion Picture Capital Limited recently announced a strategic partnership that combines the executive producing talents of Motion Picture Capital’s CEO Leon Clarance with Galatia Films’ long developed and highly anticipated project, Glastonbury: Isle of Light.

"Leon Clarance is an established and respected film industry executive and we are proud to be partnering with him," said Daniel McNicoll executive director of Galatia Films, LLC. "Motion Picture Capital and Galatia Films both believe the timing is very good for this particular feature film based on the Grail Legend, myths and history that surround Joseph of Arimathea and Glastonbury."

Leon Clarance explains, “We’re very excited about the prospect of bringing Glastonbury to the big screen.  It’s an iconic legend: England’s rich history and landscape were the first two cast members for us.”

Certainly the fan-base for the film is growing rather quickly in Britain. The tourism industry including Visit Somerset has taken a role in supporting the communication of the pre film development in an effort to further support the region, long term. John Turner Vice Chairman of Visit Somerset revealed, "During 2012 we have developed a section of the Visit Somerset website purely to inform and update fans of the up and coming film development.  Since the inclusion of the Glastonbury: Isle of light movie blog, we have seen an almost 40% increase in web traffic totaling some 22.5 Million hits to the website in 2012.”

Under the broad terms of the agreement, Leon Clarance will executive produce the film offering key financing and strategic support as Glastonbury: Isle of Light takes shape. Through the partnership Motion Picture Capital will take advantage of existing design, production and marketing teams that Galatia Films already has in place, including those led by Star Wars casting director Robin Gurland and five time Oscar winning design and effects supervisor Richard Taylor who contributed significantly to both The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Glastonbury executive producer Nuala Barton, who has worked diligently to bring many of the parties together said. “I have always been passionate about this Film, its British history and mystic legend and I am beyond excited that Leon Clarance and all these wonderful people are on board with us to create this Epic.”

Motion Picture Capital, a Reliance Entertainment company, is no stranger to the value of good partnerships, having recently formed a new indie television studio, Georgeville Television with former Heyday Films executive Marc Rosen.
Both parties hope to see pre-production begin this year and are looking at UK locations along with possible filming to take place in New Zealand. The final components of the partnership will support the overall mission by creating a unique audience experience around the globe that is fueled by a stellar production team and a strong ensemble cast.
