John will be in Somerset over 48 hours to see for himself, where the story of, Glastonbury: Isle of light, originated and give his support of the films development.

John has a hectic schedule and is on was on his way back to New Zealand, his second home and the land where one of his most famous roles was developed, within, ‘The Lord of the Rings’, where he played Gimli, the character chosen to represent the race of Dwarves in the Fellowship of the Ring. Not also forgetting John’s unforgettable role in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Last Ark and Last Crusade, where he played Sallah, Dr. Indiana Jones' beloved and trusted friend. Whether being directed by Steve Spielberg or produced under the guidance of George Lucas,  John Rhys-Davies is a heavy weight of Hollywood and Somerset has warmly welcomed him.

Galatia Films and John Rhys-Davies are very excited for Glastonbury: Isle of Light and the plans we have in place to bring this feature film production to Somerset, chronicling the mythology and legends surrounding the famous Isle of Avalon.
John is a prolific, marvellous actor whose career has flourished like no other. To count him as a friend of the project is invaluable considering he is not only a superb talent but also a brilliant personality, we are honoured that he has come to Somerset to give his support.

Janet Bell, acting director at Glastonbury Abbey, said: “We were delighted to welcome John to the Abbey. He is giving his backing to the Isle of Light production and having someone with his status behind a project which explores the legends of Glastonbury will further enhance Somerset’s place on the international map.”

John Turner the Vice Chairman has said: 'Visit Somerset is now in an incredibly privileged position and (as we witness now) is right at the heart of all the pre film development and marketing. We are assured by Galatia Films that the pre- production development is right on schedule and much of the filming will take place in Somerset and other parts of the UK. With John’s arrival in Somerset, we can see the film is continuing to attract a great deal of interest from the initial media update from Nuala Barton Executive producer of the film in September, to now a real Hollywood celebrity and friend to the film, John Rhys-Davies.   Galatia Films see’s Somerset as a really important part for the publicity machine which is why we are beginning to see ‘Glastonbury, Somerset, England’, take centre stage with the film’s publicity'.  More will follow shortly!
