The Tour of Britain returns to the South West on Tuesday 9th September 2008. The race will leave Crowshute Link in Chard at 1015AM and head over the Blackdown Hills and into Devon. Forty-eight miles later the race re-enters Somerset at Withypool and once again crosses Exmoor via Exford, Wheddon Cross, Dunster and Williton. The longest stage of this year’s race (116 miles) will also take the riders over Cothelstone Hill in the Quantock before entering Bridgwater and finishing five gruelling hours after they started at Marine Drive in Burnham-on-Sea.
In 2007 this stage was hailed in Cycling Weekly as ‘the best day ever seen in the history of British cycle racing’ and in 2008 there are more community activities whilst the world’s best cyclists race right on your doorstep.
