Glastonbury The Movie News update page.
John Turner, 'Vice Chairman' of the 'Somerset Tourism Association' and lead brand 'Visit Somerset' has said:
“I think that ‘Visit Somerset’ has a duty to make sure that it is looking for the biggest opportunities to attract investment and tourism into the county. When I heard about the ‘Glastonbury Isle of light’ movie 6 months ago, it was the right decision to get in touch with Daniel at ‘Galatia Films’ and his team to discuss the film further.”
"We are all internationally and domestically as businesses in very precarious times, whether in the film industry, tourism and leisure industry, or any other business. I have found throughout my business career the best opportunities often arise through joint workings and development.
Discovering this opportunity could be one of the biggest marketing opportunities that business and tourism has ever experienced in Somerset.
This could help unravel and explain the wonderful history and heritage of one of the most historically important counties in the UK."
We are absolutely thrilled that ‘Galatia Films’ and Daniel McNicoll (the producer and writer) have opened their doors to ‘Visit Somerset.’
We are now touching base daily through email and conference calling once a month. Daniel is involving ‘Visit Somerset’ by marketing and developing communication channels, in bringing the reality of this movie to the county of Somerset and beyond.
Daniel McNicoll, writer and producer said: "Galatia Films and the rest of the award winning production team are ecstatic to be working alongside ‘Visit Somerset's John Turner, the ‘Visit Somerset’ team and ‘Glastonbury Abbey’ in order to bring the epic production to Britain."
The first poltical statement has been released by; David Hall, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Tourism, for Somerset County Council, 3rd January 2012, he says;"
‘I am delighted to hear the news that Galatia Films and Visit Somerset are going to be partnering in the development of a feature film entitled ‘Glastonbury Isle of light’. This project, if successful, could be a major step forward for the Somerset tourism industry, helping to achieve international recognition and acclaim for our beautiful county. ’‘In the current economic situation, strategic partnering to realise a business vision is really important. I feel confident that with Visit Somerset supporting the business dynamics of this venture, the film will have an excellent chance of being developed to its full creative potential’. ‘I look forward to further updates from Visit Somerset and Galatia in the New year’.
John Turner will be meeting with Katherine Gorbing (the director of 'Glastonbury Abbey') on Friday 5th January to discuss 'Glastonbury Isle of Light'. John will also be meeting with the Abbey's communication manager to understand how to deal with the potential magnitude of the story and its impact on Somerset..
Furthermore, the latest film updates will become headline news at the next 'Somerset Tourism Association’s directors meeting at Cheddar on the 11th January.
Daniel McNicoll has asked that a film interview be recorded of both John Turner and Katherine Gorbing reflecting their excitement and importance of the films coming and what it means for Somerset and the Abbey. This will then be linked in with other production team interviews and trailer information about the film for release to the press later on this year. Potentially at the international conference in Dunster in the spring. Now booked for April 13th.
