It’s time to party at The Ghost of Cheddar Man celebrations this October Half-Term.

th October 2023, this ‘Day of the Dead’ inspired event celebrates the discovery of Cheddar Man, Britain’s oldest complete skeleton (10,000 years old!) unearthed here in Gough's Cave, 120 years ago.
To mark this special anniversary, we are hosting a fun and colourful trail and themed festivities.
Visitors can join the trail through Gough’s Cave and track down Cheddar Man’s friends. Once you’ve found them all, you’ll gain entry to The Ghost of Cheddar Man celebrations. There's even a reward to take home with you!
This experience is included in the price of your Day Ticket, so you can enjoy our celebratory activities around Gough’s Cave as part of a full day out, where you can enjoy all six spectacular attractions. You can see a life-size replica of Cheddar Man inside the cave and learn about the site’s archaeology and Cheddar Man’s discovery in the free audio guide. Watch the story of early man unfold in the Dreamhunters multimedia experience at Cox’s Cave, enjoy the Beyond the View cinematic experience, venture up Jacob's Ladder to The Look-out Tower and the Cliff-top Walk, and learn how our ancestors lived and survived at the Museum of Prehistory.
