BikeSomerset / Youth & Schools
There are lots of opportunities for young people to get actively involved in cycling, not least through their formal education. Schools have the option of hosting courses provided by the UK's largest cycling organisations, which now offer training to suit cyclists of all abilities.

The Somerset Road Safety Partnership will soon run the new national standard cycling test called Bikeability. The RoSPA cycling proficiency scheme is still a training option for schools, and the self-taught drive called 'Fit to Ride' is also available in Somerset.
Sustrans promotes the use of bicycles to travel to schoolwith their 'Safe Routes to Schools' and 'Bike It!' campaigns. Their schemes have the ultimate aim of creating a "Safe Route to School for every Child in the UK."
British Cycling offers the Go Ride training scheme, which is a "club development programme aimed at improving young riders and clubs". The initiative aims to encourage clubs to improve their management of youth membership and encourage training and safe riding. It can also link schools to their local Go Ride community club.
