Road Closures

Multi-Force Escort Group

tour logoThe race is run with the intention of causing the minimum amount of disruption to traffic flow as it passes around the region. In addition to the 'Rolling Road Closure' (see below), there are some additional temporary road closures enforced at various locations along the route. The closures are in place to guarantee public safety.

The Rolling Road Closure

As the race travels the route, a rolling road closure system will be enforced by 56 motorcyclists led by the Multi-Force Escort Group, comprising 28 police motorcycles from around the country. This 'bubble' travels ahead of the race and is extremely effective. It ensures that roads will only be closed for up to 15 minutes. Once the race has passed, the road re-opens. For route information and approximate race timings go to 'The Route'

Additional Road Closures

There will be additional road closures affecting all road users in the following locations:

Chard

Burnham-on-Sea

For road closures affecting Tiverton, South Molton and Dunster, please see the relevant pages in the community activities section.
