BikeSomerset > News > Tour of Britain South West stage launched
On Thursday 26th April the Tour of Britain officially unveiled the South West stage of the 2007 race. The Fleet Air Arm Museum hosted the launch that saw a special delivery of a Look 565 by Sea King helicopter to Tom Mayberry of the County Museum, who also launched their 'On yer Bike' cycling exhibition.

The Tour will come to the South West on Tuesday 11th September and 96 of the world's top riders will experience some of the most beautiful scenery the country has to offer. Graham Jones, Race Director, stated that 'this will be the toughest stage in 2007'. The 105-mile race starts at 1030 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, and will travel through Somerton, Langport, Othery, Taunton, Williton, Porlock (the toll road), Lynmouth, Simonsbath, Wheddon Cross, Elworthy, and on to Taunton (via the A358) for a finish in North Street. The full route map is available to download on pdf.
On June 30th the County Museum in Taunton will host their 'On Yer Bike' exhibition, which runs until the end of September. During the exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to win a fantastic Look 565 with SRAM Rival gearset. To win visitors simply have to guess the mass of the bike, which is not as simple as it sounds, as there will be a number of 'extras' on the bike that will have to be included. Full details will be available at the exhibition. The bike has been kindly supplied by Tri UK and Fisher Outdoor.
