BikeSomerset > BIKE SOMERSET NEWS > Become a Volunteer Marshall for the Tour of Britain
Volunteers are a vital resource for the sport and key to ensuring the event runs smoothly - over 100 volunteers are needed for each stage of an event like the Tour of Britain.
As a marshal you would make sure the riders have a clear route and that enthusiastic spectators don't accidentally get in their way by:
- Managing crossing points;
- Making sure cars don't try to use closed roads;
- Giving spectators information when asked.
